“All Real Life is Meeting”
-Martin Buber
Good morning friends, lovers, and seekers of the sacred – earthy mystics.
Poetry touches more of our right brain and can often open inner spaces. I love Buber’s phrase: “All real life is meeting.” It may take hours and hours to unpack the depth and the meaning of these five words. But in your own experiences, you know when moments of meeting are occurring, and too, you know, when those moments are not.
“Out beyond our ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, languages, even the phrase “each other”
doesn’t make any sense.”
-Rumi
An experiment for all of us to try today. Let me know your experience.
I invite you to be conscious of those moments today when you experience real life and meeting: Attunement. Connection. A lightness. A belonging. A deep joy. A unitive experience. You will feel the energy of the “meeting” in your heart. Also, note silently those moments when you are not in the “meeting.” Finally, be conscious of those moments of “meeting,” of at/one/ment with the divine, the sacred, the holy, moments when you leave behind “your ideas of right and wrong”, your demands as to how life should be. In some mysterious way, you leave behind your old self, and you experience an ineffable lightness of being, a sense of unity and undividedness, an unutterable joy in just being alive and free and here and now.
Be mindful of these moments of meeting.
“Omnipresence
Called or not called, God is always there.”
-Carl Jung
